Rosemary Harris in a winding ‘Road to Mecca’  

Traveling “The Road to Mecca” can be a trying trip.

The 1988 play by South African writer Athol Fugard is wordy and circuitous and waves metaphors around like emergency flares.

On the plus side, beautiful stretches and a generous humanity eventually emerge in the three-hander, now making its Broadway premiere in a Roundabout Theatre Company revival.

Cat stuck under hood survives road trip

A cat has survived a four-hour, 200-mile ride under the hood of a car traveling through Ohio. WJW-TV reports a man who’d left Xenia (ZEEN’-yuh) in southwest Ohio on a drive to Cleveland Sunday afternoon stopped at a rest area south of his destination when he smelled something.

Long road from farm to fork worsens food outbreaks (AP)
