K-Rod blows it, but Brewers beat Mets 11-9
The Mets completed an improbable comeback form a six-run hole with three runs in the eighth inning against fiery former teammate Francisco Rodriguez – including a go-ahead two-run homer by Angel Pagan. But Jason Isringhausen, K-Rod’s short-term replacement as the Mets’ closer, and Manny Acosta combined to cough up four runs in the ninth to send the Brewers to a wild 11-9 victory in Flushing.

Harper: K-Rod trade was inevitable
All along this was the one trade the Mets were going to make, no matter how they have fought to hang around the wild-card race. Because of that $17.5 million vesting option, Francisco Rodriguez was gone as soon as Sandy Alderson could find a taker, which turned out to be the Brewers Tuesday night. Alderson made something of a statement with the timing.

Mets trade K-Rod to Brewers
The New York Mets have traded closer Francisco Rodriguez to the Milwaukee Brewers for two players to be named. The deal was announced right after the All-Star game ended Tuesday night. The Mets also sent cash to Milwaukee. The Brewers are tied with St. Louis for the NL Central lead, helped by closer John Axford’s 23 saves, but have no viable 8th-inning man.
