New federal guidelines designed to focus deportations on those with criminal histories doesn’t seem to have slowed the tide of illegal immigrants sent back to their home countries, local leaders said. The Obama administration issued new regulations this year to prioritize deportations among undocumented immigrants after the U.S. sent a record number of them back to their home countries.
