Captain’s Subway Series status in doubt

Derek Jeter had what GM Brian Cashman described as “a great day” of rehab Monday at the Yankees’ complex in Tampa. But the GM confirmed that Jeter will not come off the disabled list when he is eligible to do so Wednesday, which could mean he won’t play in this weekend’s Subway Series against the Mets. Cashman wouldn’t offer a projection.

Jeter still sore, June return in doubt

Derek Jeter long-tossed for a third straight day but still feels soreness in his strained right calf, GM Brian Cashman said Thursday, leaving the Yankees captain’s targeted June 29 return in serious doubt. Jeter, who suffered the injury on June 13, hasn’t been cleared by the team’s training staff to do anything other than throw – and won’t be until the calf is completely healed.
